You already have an 8600 (if your sig is right)... It would be a waste of money.

You would do much better picking up an 8800-series card. They're getting sheaper by the day...(selling my GTS for $175)

If you feel the need to upgrade, buy an 8800GT or 8800GTS for an actual performance boost

How about a really good 9 series card?
I'm not sure which one to get lets say no more than $250?
9-series cards are the re-spun G92s originally offered in the 8800GT and 8800GTS.

If you want a good card on the cheap, grab the GeForce 9800 GTX+ (note the "+". You should be able to get them around $250 or less (since MSRP is supposed to be $229).

The other option would be the Radeon HD 4850... Though you know what my stance on ATi is.

It would be a waste to go with another 8600, like I said before, as you already have an 8600-class card.

If you want better performance, you'll need a 9600 GT or better (9800 GTX is probably the best bang for your buck right now, with the GTX+ being a bit better).

I agree, depending on how much you really want to shell out, go with the 8800GT, 8800GTS, or 9800GTX+

Getting an 8600GT to replace an 8600GTS is going to make virtually no difference
