Is this a video card artifact or is my monitor going bad?

Hard to see in the pictures, but starting about 10 minutes ago my screen shows little faint pink lines kind of shadowing the text. Mostly visible in white and grey areas on the screen, but also on the start menu buttons there's like a little dotted line surrounding the text. Computer is a Precision M70 using an external LCD. I haven't attempted to run anything on the laptop LCD yet.

Hi, does the problem persist on the laptop LCD monitor? Have you tried booting into safe mode to see if its still there, maybe its a driver problem. It could be the common problem with the video card memory going corrupt and you would have to buy a new one. That is what I believe is wrong with a friend's laptop I am trying to fix.

I haven't done any troubleshooting yet really, just kinda hoping someone had seen it before. The pinkness is getting darker and in more areas, so I just shut the system down and didn't get much work done for the last hour of the day :P.
