I have vista32 bit running in my ferrari 3400. In system information the computer shows 8.25gb RAM. But I have only 1.25 Gb running in my computer.
I checked the advanced tools There it is correctly identified as 1.25Gb. How do I correct this information in the welcome screen

I got information like this
Physical Memory : 2048 MB DDR-SDRAM( I have 2x 1GB sticks)

General Information
DIMM 1 : Empty
DIMM 2 : Empty
S1 (Bank 1 ) : 8192 MB - DIMM
S2 (Bank 2 ) : 8192 MB - DIMM
I am still confused why it shows 8192MB?
when I use 256MB it is correctly identified but when I use 1Gb stick it identifies as 8192MB. I used 2 different manufacturers but have the same problem.

Is it the exact same type of memory as what was originally in there ie: DDR PC2700? and not DDR2 or something else?

Yes its exactly the same RAM. The size , serial and all other details are correctly identified. But it shows wrong size in the general information. Does this effect the memory performance?

my 2 u.s. cents:
. the info reported is taken from another area of the modules, "bug" at the manufacturing stations (u can try to return it along with a print out of what u have in previous posts)
. personally i do not think that it will influence the performance since windows amd cpuz reported correctly the module size

cheers ...

Vista Bios for 3400 updated on Acer europe site was a shit. Do not install it.
The computer runs perfectly with its old bios 3c23.
I have not felt any difference in vista performance after updating the BIOS to be honest only add problems like wrong memory size, cannot wake up from sleep. So better is to stick with the old BIOS in which vista runs without any of these problems.
So by the way have you got a Ferrari 3400 laptop?
