Transferring hardware from latitude cp to latitude cpi r400gt

am trying to transfer all the hardware from my latitude cp (hard drive, battery, pc cards, etc..) to a stripped down cpi r400gt that someone gave me. Everything seemed to fit fine except I found out that the r400gt takes sdram instead of the edo ram from the cp. Would this be the correct memory needed? http://www.oempcworld.com/Merchant2/...Category_Code=

Also, would i have any problems transferring the hard drive from the cp to the cpi (its running windows 2000)? As in needing to format it for any reason because it is being installed in a completely different computer (We are going from a p233mmx to a p2 400 processor). I seem to remember the old OSes like 95 making you do something like that.....

Usually Windows 2000 and XP don't take too kindly to having large portions of hardware changed (Motherboard, CPU, etc.). Most likely you'll need to at least reinstall Windows ontop of the current install, though I'd recomened backing up what you need and just formatting the sucker clean out.

hmmm that might cause a problem. See the thing is, i wouldn't be doing all of this except the screen casing is almost completely broken on the cp which means i can't close it. I know i could get a replacement screen plastic piece for 6 bucks of ebay, but a friend of mine had this stripped down cpi with a p2-400. The CP sucks really bad right now because it is bogged down by windows 2000 so i figured the sdram and p2-400 would help. The main problem is that the CP is a business notebook and belongs to the company i work for so technically im not supposed to be changing over the hardware like i am, but i figure if i ever have to return it ill just put everything back in the CP again. I think if i reformat the hard drive or anything the tech guys might get pissed....i guess i can try doing the transfer without formating and if it doesn't work, then oh well.
