looking to upgrade my realtek mini pci express wifi card. currently it is only b/g compatible and i was looking for wireless N

anyone know of a comparison test between the intel 4965AGN and its competitors?

dont know much about comparison, after all this time, one AGN card is just as much as the other. $$ is the main ingredient, the other is router performance

i was probably more interested in something that was frugal with power consumption

frugal with power consumption?

all internal devices are set to use certain voltage, if the devices work for ur comp, then it must satisfy whatever voltage the comp says it should. if u want to stretch ur battery performance, then lower cpu speed, less demanding apps will be ur best bets

Atheros 5008X

You may want to give Atheros 5008x a try. It is an ABGN wireless card too. However the utility has the option to control the power uses for tranmitting the RF signals. From my experience, it help to lower the temperature, also improve the battery duration a little bit. But I have to real data to say about the length.

can u provide some "real" data about these? this is the claim made by Atheros as selling point, it will be interesting for me to see it from a user stand point with backup figures

cheers ...
