GATEWAY HELPS STUDENTS GET READY FOR SCHOOL WITH NEW NOTEBOOK AND DESKTOP PCs

Students can get a head start on fall classes with Gateway’s refreshed PC line; notebooks ideal for studies, fun on the go; new desktops feature latest technology, new design

IRVINE, Calif., June 30, 2008 – Gateway is helping students and their families get ready for next school year with new models in its popular notebook and desktop PC lines that provide leading technology at exceptional prices.

The new Gateway notebook and desktop PCs are available now at popular electronics and technology retailers. Manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) range from $549.99 to $1,149.99. Visit www.gateway.com/retail for specifications or to locate a store.

“Summer is the ideal season to buy a new notebook or desktop PC from Gateway,” said Steve Bulling, senior manager, product management, Acer Inc. “Families can take advantage of their extra time by enjoying the latest games, as well as making videos and creating photo slideshows of summer events. In the fall, students can take advantage of their new PC’s impressive performance to jump into research and studies. Plus, now is the time consumers can get a great deal on a fashionable PC that fits within their budget.”

New Retail Notebook Lines Are Ready for Entertainment, Multimedia On-the-Go

Gateway’s three lines of notebook PCs are now available in new configurations to provide students with even more performance at incredible values. The offerings include digital media-ready systems capable of handling power-hungry applications as well as cost-effective entry-level solutions for students and families on a budget.

Students can choose from the three notebook lines to find a model that best fits their needs – whether it’s a powerful system with a large widescreen display or a more portable system that is easy to carry around campus. The following three notebook lines are available at major retailers:
  • Gateway® P-Series desktop replacement with a 17-inch widescreen
  • Gateway® M-Series all-purpose notebook with a 15.4-inch widescreen
  • Gateway® T-series thin-and-light notebook with a 14.1-inch widescreen
Several new models in the three Gateway notebook lines feature Intel® Centrino® Mobile Technology and an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor. As a result, students can enjoy maximum performance running multiple applications while also experiencing improved battery life when using their notebook for note-taking, research and projects. The new notebook PCs also all come with integrated Wifi, allowing students to enjoy wireless connectivity in their dorm rooms, classrooms and other campus hot spots.

Advanced multimedia features let students enjoy video, music and games in their downtime. The multimedia panel is integrated into the keyboard surround with smooth-cut keys, giving customers convenient access to frequently-used audio and video functions such as DVD, audio, stop, fast-forward, and rewind. A touch-sensitive slide controls volume and front-access audio ports provide a convenient connection for headphones. Plus, the DVD burner features LabelFlash technology, so students can stay organized by burning text and images on the disc label as they save content to it.

The notebooks also include an integrated web cam for staying in touch and creating video emails and blogs. Several models boast a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) for digital video and audio out. Each of the notebooks feature a widescreen display, which is ideal for productivity as well as watching DVD movies and online entertainment on the go.

All three notebook lines feature a consumer-oriented industrial design in sleek and slim form factors with distinguishing trims and treatments. The M-Series and T-Series are available in Garnet Red, Pacific Blue, Silver and Grey depending on the retailer.

Many configurations are available in the three lines of Gateway PCs. Examples follow:

The Gateway M-6848 comes with an Intel® Core® 2 Duo T5750 processor, 4GB of DDR2 SDRAM, a 250GB(1) hard drive, 802.11a/b/g,a super Multi-format DVD-R/RW with LabelFlash technology(2) and Vista Home Premium 64-bit with SP1. It’s Garnet Red and has an MSRP of $799.99.
