A long time ago I read that you can get SSE3 support on the 3700+ processor. I want to swap my 7405GX 3200+ to a 3700+ and update the bios and am not sure what one I need.

The newest look like NS.00.05

Look at your bios ver under the main bios display page where it shows the date and time.

Also if you have cpu-z, take a screenshot of the processer specs as there are lots of varients of the 3700+.

Thanks in advance.

Well I no longer have my ole 7405GX, but, I can tell you THIS, I had The 2GB RAM upgrade and run 32bit Vista Home Premium, and I had the NS.00.05 BIOS and everything worked FINE, I had a Vista WEP-SCORE of 3.5 on the 7405GX
hope this helps you out some?

I do appriciate your input, however I currently run 2GB and a very rare 7k100 100GB PATA 7200RPM hard drive (nowadays anyway). Running vista 32, it feels like a $700 laptop at sams club. Not that im complaining but I would like to put a 3700+ in it with SSE3 instructions.

I would like to know if there is a newer bios than the .05, if not, I will certainly go with it, but I thought the 7422 got that bios and the 7426 got an even newer bios. Luckkly mine shipped with a trouble free NS board and not the "52" board.

Did you look here? http://emachines.fizi.ca/bios.php, I'm not sure if any of them work anymore............ I could use most all of them on my ole 7405GX.....even the NS and the 52....dunno why but they all worked when I tested them a few years back

Yes, thats how I found out they have the ns.00.05 however it is listed for the 7422gx and that only have a 3400+. How about the 7426gx, I would think it had the newer bios.
