Overclocking the CPU on a Dell Vostro 1500

Thread Starter
Greetings to all.

I would like to get some advice on how to overclock my CPU on my Dell Vostro 1500 laptop.

My laptop specifications are :

Dell Vostro 1500
CPU : Intel C2D T8300 Penryn @2.4Ghz 3mb L3 cache
RAM: 2x1GB @667Mhz 5-5-5-15
GPU : Nvidia 8600M GT 256mb DDR2 @ 700/1600/525 (...yeah, I know ... gotta stop drinking gasoline)

So my laptop is very fast and I like it, but I'm all about overclocking every single component.

Is there any way, using a third party tool to overclock my laptop.
Ofcourse, as you already know, BIOS functions are locked.

I hope Dell hasn't locked FSB overclocking completely for my laptop mobo.

Furthermore, is there any way to change my RAM latency settings ?

Sorry, I've been a laptop user only recently but I know almost everything there is to know about desktop computers so I have a pretty good knowledge base.

Hope to see some answers soon and thanks in advance.

The settings you are trying to reach on that computer can not be physical done. The vost's are a business line mechine and the mobo are designed to allow such features. You can get away with Overclocking the GPU but the CPU is set.

To be honest, you wouldn't want to even if you could. The cooling system is not up to handling the increased heat generated by a decent overclock. In fact, this is one of the primary reasons that laptop manufacturers lock the CPU from being overclocked.

Hey Zander - You mentioned being able to overclock this GPU. What would be best way to overclock this particular GPU and the other Dell GPU's for that fact. I'm pretty new here myself and am looking at purchasing a Dell (I like the Latitudes because I already have the D-dock for it). I can tear them down and put them back together, but need good directions when it comes to getting away from factory manuals. Thanks a heap!!!
