I got a vostro 1500 exactly one week ago today. I had an E310 which I used mostly for just general stuff and recording guitar and other instuments. My wife uses our main computer also so this is my own little personal PC.
I discovered right off the bat the sound card on the vostro is junk. I never could get the line in option to work. I researched for days and didn't find anything that really helped, as I'm not into registry changes and all that too much.
I bought a Sound Blaster live 24 bit USB external card yesterday and it works great.
However, now I'm finding I can't use the built in mic without changing everything back to the Sigma Tel card for everything.
Is there a way to work around this? I realize I might just have to do that everytime but hoping not.
I do have Whatuhear with the SB card but I don't think that does anything with the onboard mic.
Any ideas?
