Okay, my Laptop is out of warranty for a few months now, and I am having a problem. Right before the warranty expired, Dell sent me a new power chord/brick. Anyway, it has worked fine for the last few months, but today, I started having an issue with the battery intermittently not charging while plugged in.
When I jiggle the plug that goes into the back of the laptop, I can get it to start charging again, but this is getting really annoying, not to mention quite difficult charging my laptop. It seems to stop charging while plugged in and takes some work to get it to start charging again.
Now, truth be told, the plug has ALWAYS fit into the back of the laptop in a very loose way, and has always tended to sometimes fall out. No biggie though, because plugging it back in always started the laptop charging again, until today.
Now, the internal outlet that the pin/power-chord plugs into seems stable. I thought perhaps if it was loose that maybe opening up the unit and soldering it would fix the problem. However, it doesn't jiggle or move when I push on the solid little cylinder in the back of the laptop.
Now I have NO WISH to send this beast back to Dell who will take who knows how long to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas whether this is a problem with the actual A/C adapter or with the internal power supply on the actual laptop? Because I am not sure who to go to to have the laptop fixed.
Thanks!
