How Do I Permanently Disable Intel Wireless Internal Minicard?

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 with internal Bluetooth and Intel Wireless Mini Card.

The wireless minicard is not functioning properly and I have installed new drivers to try and fix it but without success. It is out of warranty now and I would not feel happy to replace the internal card myself, so I want to by a Laptop Card which is compatible with my Wireless N Router.

How do I permanently disable the internal wireless so that it does not confuse my system with the new card as well? I have tried the FN F2, but this disables my Bluetooth too.

If I uninstall the driver software, I assume that every time I reboot it will find the internal wireless hardware?

Can someone help?

take a look at the bios option and see if u can leave the device off at start up?

6 screws and you can remove it from the system.

The bios definitely has an option of disabling it.

SIX? Only takes two. Pop up the keyboard bezel, undo the keyboard screws and you have access to the minicard bay. Pops out just like a memory module.


HOWEVER, the easier solution is to go into BIOS setup by pressing F2 on the POST screen. Go to onboard Devices and you can disable the Wi-Fi card there permanently.
