What laptop manufacturer ships out their new laptops fastest?

I just placed a Dell XPS laptop order and the estimated ship date is 8/5! Ridiculous! What laptop manufacturer can I go online, buy a laptop, configure it, and get it shipped to me much quicker?

all depend on the models, the availability of parts, how popular the models are. This issue is not manufacturers specific. And most of the times, manufacturers willl speed up/move ahead the delivery date, regardless of what it says.

order from a smaller reseller and you'll be able to get customized notebooks quick. My notebook was built and shipped out exactly three days after my reseller (ISTNC, if you're interested) got the chassis from the manufacturer.

Otherwise, you could buy a pre-configured unit from one of several online stores (such as Newegg or Tiger Direct) and you wouldn't have to wait for customization.

also be aware that the estimated ship date from Dell is greatly exaggerated in most cases to give themselves plenty of leeway in case of delays. My wife's laptop arrived almost 2 weeks before the estimated ship date (approximately 2 weeks after the order was placed iirc).

I've bought many XPS laptops from Dell and received them all much quicker than the estimated date. I wouldn't worry to much about the projected one. The most I waited for an XPS is 10 days including the weekend days. 7 days is average and, I recieved one in 3days. You want faster ship time look in the outlet. Find what you want and it will be there in 3days as they keep them in TX. All the outlet notebooks I've bought showed up in 3 days.

^^ Agree w/ Steve. PCTorque is good. Alienware also has a couple of pre-configed models right now that are shipping in 48 hours.

My laptop from Dell showed up almost 3 weeks before the estimated arrival date. So don't lose hope.
