Powerlight only

When I went to turn on my laptop, the power light came on for 3 seconds then turned off. No noise from the laptop, nothing coming up on the screen. Just 3seconds of powerlight then it goes off.

Any help is appreciated

I had changed my ram about a week ago. I pulled them out alternately to see if they were the problem. I also switched hard drives. None of this changed the problem. I contacted ASUS tech and they said "CPU, Memory, hdd or mobo could be the issue." They only work on mobo service and nothing else. The tech, after asking him, ruled out the video card. I just ebayed a 1.86ghz cpu (mine is a 2.0) to see if that is the prob.

why not get another 2.0? 80$. That's the dif between 1.86 and 2.0.
