I bought a 2nd hand M1330 knowing it had a backlight problem. I've fixed laptops before, but I haven't really dealt with this issue, so I'm asking for advice.
From what I could Google about backlight issues on laptops, it is usually the power inverter that needs to be replaced, or the backlight lamp itself.
I ran the Dell diagnostic and got two errors: 2000-0413: LCD Cable Not Detected, and 2000-0322: Error accessing LCD inverter.
Sounds like the inverter is bad, right? I'm trying to diagnose this properly before I spend money to fix it, so any help is appreciated.

From what I could find, inverters run about $80 - $100 for an original Dell part. I just found a "replacement" inverter for a fraction of the cost (about $25 shipped). Should I be worried about using a non OEM part? Honestly, I plan to fix this laptop and sell it, but I don't want the next owner to have more problems just because I wanted to save a few bucks.
