Acer Aspire 7520-5185, touchpad too sensitive

Does anyone know how to change to sensitivity of the touchpad. It is so sensitive that one minute I am typing and the next I am somewhere else on the page. It is totally driving me nuts. There has to be a way to change it, or is there a way to simply turn it off and I will use a USB mouse.

pretty much. no sensitivity option in the alps settings. you can also try slowing the cursor speed down a notch or two. usually helps. also bump tapping delay up just a bit.

Utility to help fix acer touchpad sensitivity

I had this problem with my Acer 7520-5185 laptop I bought last year.

I found a reference to TouchFreeze in another forum somewhere:

Touchfreeze

The software freezes movement of the touchpad when you are typing. I was suspect at first, but it works.

Hope this helps someone.

On my Acer 8930 you can turn off touchpad using -Fn + F7.
I find using a mouse is easier. My touchpad is so sensitive that I don't even have to tap it, just moving it around is enough to open up something I don't want

ok qhn , still don't understand why it's dated july 2008 ???
Because that was when the thread started. We have threads and posts dated back many years that are still active and applicable to today's issues.

Not at all. You were adding another possibility to solve an issue. This is always welcome.

Just bought a couple new Acer laptops ... and that touchpad was driving me crazy..... and I needed to deploy the other laptop to a remote employee who would have been so frustrated... thanks for the link to TouchFreeze.... it works perfectly!!

I know that this is an older post, but I just had to make a comment about the link you posted.  I am very skeptical about downloading software that I am not familiar with, but I seen this forum and felt a little bit more comfortable in downloading it.  I must say that I have an Acer 7520-5185 17.0" laptop and I have had it for a couple of years or so and this keyboard problem from the onset.  I tried researching a couple of times, but no success - so I just tolerated it.  Well this morning, I had enough and just asked God if this could be solved and searched again.  It was a matter of minutes and I found this forum (Thank You God) and it WORKS!!!

Also, I am a pretty good typist and I am on my laptop every day for many hours so this was very frustrating.  This fix is Fantastic and I am extremely Grateful!!

Thanks to all who posted with helpful advice. Yes, this thread may have been started a while ago, but the problem still exists with new Acer laptops. I consider myself a pretty patient person (and a decent typist) but trying to type on my newish Aspire 5733 etc. was driving me CRAZY. Thanks again!!

I have found some reviews about this problem.. Other users recommend changing touchpad settings. Just make it less sensitive

Ah, yes. I've looked and looked for the touchpad sensitivity settings, but never could find them.
