Certificate of Authenticity Label

Thread Starter
I've had my Z71V for almost 4 years now and the hard drive started to pack it in. I got a new drive and tried a number of methods to copy my existing windows install to it but no joy - get interesting errors like crc errors and the copy programs bail on me.

Anyway, I figured perhaps I should dig out my old windows xp pro sp2 oem disk that came with my machine and use that. I put it in and get part way through and it asks me for the 25 digit code. I dig out the manual that came with the laptop only to find "The Certificate of Authenticity label has been removed by your PC manufacturer and should be attached to your PC". I look all over the laptop and no joy. I am assuming I am completely out of luck here - but figured I'd ask all the smart people here just in case someone knows a solution. To make matters worse I bought my laptop from MileStonePC (back when they were called CanadaSys) and they appear to have gone out of business.

Any bright ideas out there?

your Windows OEM number should be listed on a sticker on the bottom of your notebook. Check there.
