Gateway R50ROG won't boot

A couple of days ago my laptop went blank when I was browsing the internet. Now when I turn it on the screen stays blank, but the fan comes on and doesn't stop. This light above the keyboard comes on and is orange but was normally green when the laptop was working. I'm not sure what the light is but its a picture of a box with an arrow pointing into and out of it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Any noises like screeching or machine like noises?

Yes, it makes a popping noise once and the fan runs constantly.
