Oh yes... I hated that scroll lag. Definitely took some adjusting to get used to.

well... i guess i could get an x300, they cost around 100 dollars with shipping. The question is, if its worth it. How could i sell the gen-2, as a whole? What parts are the important ones, and how much do you think i could salvage?

My dad's getting a new laptop, so i could get his vaio, with a 6200go. That probably performs right around the x300, huh?

It makes me sad, but given that theres so many old laptops of my dads lying around everywhere, it would be pointless to invest money into the gen-2 just to go surfing.

Well if theres other PC's lying around then use them I guess. Since you have your dad's laptop coming to you, then its just a matter of whether or not your want to keep you XPS or sell it for parts.

X300 costs $100?

Go to eBay and buy a FX2500M for $200 if you're gonna shell out that kinda cash.

Yes they are kinda hard to find now-a-days, but you can catch a deal if you put up a thread in the "For Sale" section of these forums and keep browsing eBay for a 7900GS/GTX or FX2500M.

Yes you can use the X300 or the far more rare X600 but you cannot use the X1300. The X300 costs $100+ on ebay which isn't really worth it if you ask me. The X300 and the 6200go should perform around the same but the X300 is probably a little better. Alternatively, you could try to underclock your current card at say 100/250 (500 ddr) and see if it remains usable on those settings.

The main parts on the XPS2 anyone would care about are:
CPU, GPU, HD, Mobo

Other things that attrach less attention but can be sold separately:
Bluetooth, Keyboard, System fans, dvd drive

There are more parts but honestly I dont see you selling them.

Gen 2 can't use those cards the last time I checked. Max on the Gen 2 was the 7800 GTX

Ahh I need to read more closely, a Gen2? Yea, that's gonna be pretty tough to find a replacement card for that one. I don't know all the options, but I know the 7800's are hard to find for a decent price.

Goodluck, you've learned just like I did that it's always worth it to keep the warranty up .

yeah, now i know for the future- its a lesson that had to be learned, at some point. Luckily i still learned it with this one ^^. However, now that ive played maybe 10 hours of diablo II on a 12" display, i really miss the 17" screen.

yeah, its stupid to put in cash on a system that still uses single core. Heck, i got constant laggs on Assassin's Creed, whether my graphics options were above medium or on absolute minimum.

What's curious tho is that my screen got a white pixel line the day before my card died. Technically Dell still owes me a brand new screen... given that I can see it on VGA-mode ^^. They haven't responded to my e-mails tho, heh.
