Alien Chat Very Unhelpful Concerning M15x

Talia D.: Hi, my name is Talia D.. How may I help you?
Stephen: Hello, about how long does it take to get an m15x delivered from the day the order is placed?
Talia D.: the estimated ship date will be posted online when placing your order
Stephen: Is it more than a month?
Talia D.: It would more than likely be less than that
Talia D.: However if there were any delays you would be notified
Stephen: I leave for school August 29th, so when would be a good time to place the order?
Talia D.: When you are able to
Stephen: Well the only reason i'm really waiting is because i want to see if the black gets released. But no one knows if thats a rumor or not. But, if i need it by august 29th, whats the latest date i can really order it?
Talia D.: Unfortunately we do not have that information at this time
Stephen: Well forget i mentioned the color haha. Thats forbidden at alienware =P But if i order it, lets say on August 10th, would it be likely that i would have the laptop by August 29th?
Talia D.: You would need to check the estimated ship
Talia D.: We would not be able to guarantee the specific date that it would arrive
Stephen: Gotcha, but can i get the estimated ship from august 10th? (Again that date is just example)
Talia D.: Unfortunately not
Stephen: Alright, well hmmm. I'm unsure as what to do then. I guess i might as well just order it as soon as possible?
Talia D.: ok
Talia D.: Is there anything else that I may help you with?
Stephen: Well i just wanted your input on that statement haha.
Talia D.: Thank you for considering Alienware, have a great day!
Stephen: Thats your input? Haha alright you too.

All I wanted to know is the latest (safe) date I can order an m15x to have it by August 29th. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me. By the way, is anyone still waiting for black? I was, but they are dragging it out like crazy!

Alienware doesn't have a crystal ball that lets them know how many orders they'll receive, or the inventory they'll have at the time.

The estimated ship date is the estimated ship date, not the estimated delivery date, so add three to five days onto that depending on where in the country you are.

They also lack the ability to communicate that. They leave you in the dark with everything. There sketchy and unhelpful. Anyways, the guy wasn't even like, yea order it soon. Hes like "ok". AW has been pissing me off lately anyways, I'm about to contact FNW again and forget AW.

FNW has like a 2 month backlog. So even if you ordered it now it still will not make it to you by your dead line. Unless you want some of the coffee they pack with it to keep you on the edge.

Plus with the "expected" new roll out of Montevina, they are not going to be ordering more "old tech" if they run out of stuff. So that backlog might just grow.

Nahh, FNW said they could get it to me in 3 weeks in their email last night. I gave them my exact order and everything. Then again I'm not getting any fancy paint job. I just like a company that can deal with customers legitimately. Alienware cant even fathom how to carry out a conversation.

We're sorry for any confusion you may have had.

As of this writing, the estimated ship date for a default configured m15x is July 25. We will aim to meet or possibly ship earlier than this date. However, bear in mind that these are solely estimates and these dates are subject to change. Because of this, we are unable to guarantee a specific date of shipment.

As for delivery, depending on your shipping method, you can add 3-5 days with Ground or 2 days with 2-day Express.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like further info.

Yeah they tell you 3 weeks, online site says 4 weeks, that means I give it about 5 weeks. But I dont trust delivery dates, and I really dont care about them. All i know is that I got my AW several days EARLIER than was stated. You never know what will happen with these things.

That conversation seemed completely normal to me...anybody else? At least the support agent didnt make any promises and give false hope.......most of the ship dates are estimates and my 3 Alienware notebooks actually came earlier than the estimate ship date..

You obviously just felt like having a rant and so be it.........

I've never had luck with Alienware Chat (sales or tech problems). From my experience, if you want to know something, call or email Alienware. I would prefer that Alienware drops the Chat and funnels the money into phone support. But I'm not going to complain about their overall service because when it comes down to it, Alienware has taken care of me throughout my 3 year warranty.

dmbnincubus, its simple, AW's procedures as outlined are Industry SOP along with that chat you had. If you dont like it dont order from AW.

Good luck with another Brand.

QFT. You were advised exactly where to find an estimated ship date by configuring your system online. There are many factors that can change the ship date; component selection (illuminated keyboard right now is causing shipping delays on the m17x, as is dual 8800GTX's). That could change in two weeks. And, if you order a preconfig model, you could have it shipped as early as the 25th. How the hell is that representative supposed to know what configuration you are selecting? Sure, they could say, "Order it on the 1st just to be safe." only to have you come back and bitch that because you wanted the illuminated keyboard, extreme processor, or some other component that was backordered Alienware sux.

You're asking a general question that no one could answer and then complaining about it to a group of people that can tear your arguement apart piece by piece without fear of being fired or disciplined by Alienware management or scoring low on a quality observation being done on your interaction.

Cut the rep and the company some slack. They gave you the right and only answer they could based on the information you provided.
