External Enclosures....confused?

Hi guys,

i have a laptop i cant access at the moment..dying video card...i need to access the hard drive and grab data off it...

Its a dell XPS M170...can you tell me what i need to buy (newegg) to be able to browse my laptop hard drive on a desktop...

Checklist:

- Same size of your HDD (2.5" ???).
- Same internal interface (IDE, SATA).
- External interface (matches your desktop. Do yo want USB 2, firewire or eSata?)

Then you're all set. Newegg has an awesome serch engine that you can use to narrow your choices to what you really need.

arent all laptop 2.5 ?? or no

This is the specs for drive
80GB 7200rpm ATA/100 HDD XPS-2~80GB (7,200rpm) IDE Hard Drive
so interface i ned is IDE and NOT sata ?

USB 2....not sure wat eSata is

You could just buy a ide to usb cable since the hdd's in laptops don't require a separate power source (at least mine didn't)

I'm not 100% sure about what i just said so somemone needs to confrim this.
