Hi,

When I press my power button to power up my laptop, the power lights come on, but nothing else happens at all. The only thing I tried was to Power Drain the laptop. Can someone help me to figure out what is wrong?

All the best,

Try applying pressure to the left side of the palm rest and then hit the power button. Hold the pressure and see if video comes back. If so, you have an issue with the motherboard.

Thank you, Ill try that now. One thing tho, the harddrive light doesnt even come on, just the 2 power lights. Its as if the laptop is dead with just 2 lights on. Hope that makes more sense. Any suggestion based off this post?

98% of the time with these models it is an issue with the motherboard.

Try turning on the system with one stick of memory at a time. Is your unit the celeron or centrino based system?

Will try the 1 stick at a time boot suggestion.
It is a Celeron M.

I tried the memory trick, still nothing. Im leaning toward it being the motherboard, due to the fact that not even the harddrive shows any signs of functioning (spinning/activity light not blinking, etc.) Hope that makes sense.

Someone on the site having a problem is not funny. We are here to help each other out. If you do not have anything positive to add to the thread, you should just stay out and quit trying to increase your post count

Put some heavy pressure on the left side of the mouse pad, push down really hard. This method does not always work if the solder sphere is not close to the trace under it and it is not getting pushed onto the pad when you are pushing down on it...

Jeez who made you the forum police? I was implying the fact that if one has to "push really hard" on the mobo to get the computer to work and it is under warranty, it would be simply easier to do that.

I am not the forum police but think its rude when you laugh at someone's notebook problems.

The dv4000 wont be under the factory warranty since the unit is probably about 3-3.5 years old.

I was asking if putting pressure on the left side of the notebook makes it get video again because it is a huge issue with these notebooks. If you look at the forum, I personally have repaired a bunch for people on here. I am here to help people out, not laugh at their misfortune...
