YAY!!

http://www.internetishop.com/product...1&item=556C16V

so i called over the phone and ordered because i wanted to make sure on the specs, add 1 gig of ram since i couldnt find a place to do it online, and make sure they use kingston ram. the additional 512mb ram upgrade cost $130.

heres the specs:

- IntelĀ® Centrino PentiumĀ® M 1.6GHz (400MHz FSB) Processor
- CardBus Type II Slot
- 1GB SO-DIMM DDR 333 Memory
- 60GB (7200RPM) Ultra ATA Hard Drive
- 24x8x12x24 DVD+CDRW Combo Drive
- ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 M11, 128MB DDRAM 4X AGP
- IEEE 802.11g Mini PCI Wireless Lan Card
- 15" SXGA Plus TFT LCD Monitor (1400x1050)
- Built-In Ethernet Adapter
- Built-In Fax Modem
- Built-In 1394 IEEE Firewire

Total price = $1736

Shipping cost an additional $39, but they upgraded it to 3-day Express for free.

The fact that this is the same chasis as the voodoo m460 and the nice screen and 9700 mobility really convinced me, not to mention the price.

Furthermore, I would just like to add that their over the phone reps are awesome, they arent some foreign people who cant speak english. I talked to Fred most of the time, he really knows his stuff and i asked some pretty detailed tech questions, and he was just the sales guy!

YAY IM HAPPY, will take some pics when i get it tuesday.

Congrats,

does that come with the OS? Please post some benchies if you can. Our systems are very similar, so its probably a fair comparison of the M11 to the M10.

i will post some 3dmark03 benchies when i get it, im assuming it will be close to 2900.

i asked specficically about the software, he said they burned and tested it but then uninstalled windows xp, would cost extra to have it shipped with an OS, comes will all the drivers though.

this isnt a problem for me, i have windows xp cd's at home.

also, that price includes only a 1 year warranty, i didnt go for the 3 year deal cause im probably going to sell it in a year and buy a new one.

Congrats! Very nice looking rig. Also very light and thin! How did you find a way to customize it (more ram or warranty)? I don't see a place to customize this machine on their site. I'll be waiting to see your review. Also, if you could run a 3dmark2001 bench that would be great. Good luck!

ill run 3dmark2001 when i get it aswell

i dont really care about 3dmark scores, would only do it for cause lots of people want to know

about the warranty, if u like, say ADD TO CART, u will see the warranty option, about the ram...i couldnt find a place online to upgrade it, so i called and ordered and Fred upgraded it for me for $130, they use like 2-3 of the major brands for the ram, the parts are not some cheap brand, for the ram i asked for kingston, he said he will note that.

it was a pleasant buying experience, now just have to get it and inspect it.

.

I like the design very much, but I don't see any voodoo m460... is it plastic or magnesium?

I have rig that has the same specs, but battery is much better. This one seems to have only 3 hours. I would actually consider getting this one, because I like the design much better. Do you know what brand is it?

EDIT: oh and another thing it doesn't seem to support Dothan, or at least they don't mention this in the specs.

voodoo m460 is the same as the laptop i ordered except no paint job (the m460 retailed for $3500)

http://www.xgecko.com/~duck/images/kevin460/

or

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&ssPageName=WDV (also, i emailed this guy, his reserve on that auction is $3300...what a rip off)

its the exact same laptop, i dont know if its plastic or magnesium

i dont know what original brand made the chasis

I am not judging, read the specs:

Battery Li-Ion battery @ 53 Whrs (8 cells)

Battery Life More than 3.0 hrs

Unless of course more means 4+ hours

oh the battery, i didnt look at that, i dont see myself taking the laptop out of the house much, so im too worried about it

3 hours is still enough to watch a dvd on the deck

thanks in advance for the benchies. 3dmark03 and 3dmark2001se would be fine. Should give us a general idea how much faster the M11 is over the M10 (same cpu, same ram, same HD).

Looks like its an ECS 556. Heres the link

hopefully they are wrong about it though. I am really interested in this rig, because I like the design much better then Compal, they seem to thought it through when they designed it. So far I'd like to know if it's really 3+ hours, and how is the build quality as well as if it has support for Dothan. I might think about returning my old one

Interesting, looks like it does support Dothan. Now, anyone knows how reputable this company is? I am so itching to find out more info about this laptop and possibly get one

couple things I already like about it is that they placed the exhaust fan on the opposite side and power connector is also placed in the appropriate place
post #14 of 55
ECS supposedly makes good notebooks. It is the ECS G556e to be exact. (aka the Evesham Voyager XT, Aries Precision 5556, and VoodooPC M:460)

it does support dothan but no one reall knows if upgrading will be possible, in theory it should, but Fred on the phone said he just doesnt know
post #16 of 55
where is the option to upgrade cpu .memory and such?
Hrm. I wish I could find this notebook from a reputable USA-based reseller. InternetIShop.com's reseller rating kind of sucks. Check out the complaints about laptop ordering and returns.

yea resellers rating sucks, but its like 42 total and 11 being negative, thats not enough to really base an opinion for me

ill just have to wait and see, will review tuesday!

yeah, I don't see any options there, but the default configuration is the same what I got and $100 cheaper. I am sure you can configure it when you call them. are you interested?

hey titanman

on ebay their feedback is 97.6% positive...and thats after 36,000 feedbacks!

http://cgi2.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAP...ernetishop-com

im not gonna base an opinion before getting the system, but im just saying, 36,184 is a much better number to judge than 42, on ebay almost everyone leaves a feedback after buying, on resellers rating how many who are actually satisfied leave a rating? if i got a perfect computer i really wouldnt care about posting my happy experience on resellers rating, if i had a bad one however i probably would.

just saying...
