G20 Overheating Issue Again

Thread Starter
hi, i knw this is an issue thats probs bin covered but i really need 2 find a solution for the overheating as i cant keep replacing the battery every time.

my laptop overheats and switches off automatically. i do not get any warning messages like other members have put down. i have had the battery already replaced a year ago and the problem has returned again. it overheats when using the CPU heavily (eg games, and even when many IE windows open), however it did not occur when i first bought the laptop and ran the same programs. Does anyone have a solution? I have cleaned out the fans and allow for good circulation and the fan runs loudly all the time.

Does it have anything to do with the battery life? My battery life has gone to about 8mins, when it used to last about 50ish. If the battery life is lower does it cause the overheating problem???? is replacing the battery agen theonly thing i can do? PLZ help. thnkz.

Are you using the laptop on your lap or another soft surface, if so, you are probably covering the vent holes and it is overheating. Try using the laptop on a kitchen cutting board or something like that if you want it on your lap and see if you still have the shutdown problems.
If the laptop is in a dusty environment ie with pets, the fans may be clogged with hair dust and should be blown out with canned air or taken in to an auth Tosh repair facility for a cleaning
