I just purchased this laptop, and find the vista OS sucks wind. Has anyone successfully downgraded this specific laptop to XP, or another similar model as this one?

i got all of those drivers to work on T-6321 but some of the media buttons and screen brightness still do not work as i have checkboxes next to "media access buttons".
does anyone have a clue where can i get those drivers ???
I'd really like to have screen contrast button working under XP.

Anyways, i have chipset, LAN, WLAN, audio, modem, touchpad, webcam, UAA audio driver, SATA, SMB bus driver working properly.
this took me days to test and get working.
modem driver drove me crazy, it took literaly 4 days to get the rigth driver.

i even slipstreammed a few drivers (SATA, LAN, Video) in my custom XP install cd.
some essential drivers are installed during setup, I copied rest of the drivers to a floder on CD as well, so that i can install them later.
Basically I made a CD that i can use to reinstall the OS and all essential drivers in about half hour or so.

laptop runs way faster than under vista.
I hate Vista, it is total crap.

anyways, can anyone point me in right direction in regard of getting media buttons like screen brightness to work?

lan
wireless
modem

i still need audio, webcam, hotkeys and card reader drivers for XP. please help.

and the drivers that facilitated this?

I used the T-6330u for my T-6321 and have everything working except for the media buttons. I too have the 3 !'s in Device Mgr. I think they are the media buttons. I think you need Windows Media Center Ed. Here's a link for the Gateway drivers.

Or you can try

I've got to bump this question back-- my friend has a gateway t-6321 and wants to have XP installed so is there anyone that has gotten the media panel buttons to work? Something tells me that it might be an ACPI driver issue that is integrated into Vista

Tried the drivers from the post above yours?

Yes, though none of these are for the media buttons devices (the multimedia panel). Actually, with a little searching I found that it might be possible to use TweakUI to set command keys on multimedia keyboards... though I'm not sure if it'll work.

If anyone has found a definite solution please post it.

How about trying the XP drivers and utilities of the M-series? They are very much identical in kernel build, you might get lucky with the media buttons.

T-6321

I have successfully install XP PRO on the Gateway T-6321. I have located all of the drivers The ACPI drivers were the most painful. The secret to getting XP loaded is to use the XP CD > F6 > insert the AHCI drivers on floppy. You will be presented with a message stating that XP has a driver, do you want to use it. Select to use the XP driver. The drive will be located and the installation will complete. Upon restart, you will get the Blue Screen of Death. Perform a REPAIR installation over the top. You may get a message during the reinstallation about an app failing to run. Cancel it. and move on. XP will come up after the REPAIR installation. Then have fun finding the drivers. I have them if you would like them IM junkmail@1netsolutions.com.

Would you upload the drivers (in a zip form) via attachment in a post for us all to share in the future? Appreciate it very much.

cheers .-..
