thinking of picking the hp zd7000 over the sager 8970... - Page 5

Thanks, I basically asked you the question which I previously posted:
Is BrightView like the SONY and the Sharp notebook displays that have like a sheet of plastic over them? And are reflective? And you can see yourself in them?
You replied that you could only see yourself in it if it was powered off. This is very puzzling because in the zd7000 forums people are saying that the SONY and Sharp are EXACTLY like the BrightView and just as reflective.
Here is the puzzling thing to me:
HP says that the BrightView has a wide viewing angle. With the SONY's and Sharps, if anything, the viewing angle is dramatically reduced with the "plasticized coating" on the screen that they have. Is it really a gloss coating on the BrightView, or more of a matte finish??
Also, could anyone else who has seen the BrightView, and the SONY's and/or Sharps please comment.
The "best advice" I had on the zd7000 forums was to order two systems, one with BrightView and one without it, and send one back. I REALLY, really would hate to have to do that.
Thanks,

My father-in-law got a sony brite view a few months ago and I helped him set it up. All I could say was wow. That screen was bright!! Makes mine look like its dim as hell. I believe it has more back lights that most normal lappys. It was very glossy, looked like it had a laquer over it, but stunning to look at, I had no problems with it what so ever. Matter of fact I found myself envying him for it, my sager was better in every other way but that.

Well, the SONY is called XBrite I believe, and the HP is BrightView. From some of the comments that have been posted (and pictures) the HP is different but similar. The HP has a very wide angle of viewing, which I don't find the SONY's, Sharps, etc. to have.
Still trying to find a way to verify this without having to order and possibly return one.

Personally, I've never noticed a problem w/ the viewing angle on the Sony Xbrites, but then again, I've never had a WSXGA screen nearby to compare it against. I can't imagine being disappointed w/ a Sony screen, for all that my opinion's worth.
