ACER Aspire 2012 Bluetooth module

Hi all.
I've got the above laptop.
What's been done to it?
-2 Gb Ram upgrade
-External 160Gb HD ( opted for that instead of switching the existing 40Gb)
-Got a PCMCIA 4 USB upgrade (which isn't working , it even stalls my existing USB ports)

And now for the questions...

I've found the how to for fitting a bluetooth module on this ACER.
I can use the same module as used in the 2025. (and it seems also the 1684)
But I've found several modules on the net, not from ACER...

Now I've found several modules, and am wondering:
What module do I need (which connector) ?
An 8 pin 1mm connector
An 8 pin 1,25mm connector
A 6 pin 1,25mm connector
A 5 pin 1,25mm connector
A 4 pin 1,25mm connector

Another question...
I Really need a COM (RS232) port, and I'm wondering...
If I buy a PCMCIA card with RS232 port, is this a real RS232, or just an emulated one? Because the device that needs to be used through this port doesn't work with for example an RS232 to USB cable.

Hope anyone can help

Thanx

Gwen

Dunno about the bluetooth modules, but why complicate things with a not-Acer brand?
As for RS232, I use a port-replicator, which == an emulator to console in to routers. Took a while to figure which COM Port was being emulated, then how to set that, then it was fine.
I suppose the PCMCIA would be an emulator of sorts also, since it isn't actually RS232. What's the device that you're working with?

The module is sold as an ACER replacement.
I only need to know what kind of connector I've got
I actually have a choice between the 8 pin 1mm or the 8 pin 1,25mm one, since my connector is an 8 pin.
Why not ACER ? It's like 1/3rd off the ACER price
I want to use a cutting plotter with the laptop, and I already tried the combo Serial to USB connector, but that doesn't work properly.
So I really need to go serial to serial
I was actually hoping that a PCMCIA card would kinda be the same as a PCI slot on a desktop.
If U put a card in there with RS232 ports I think they actually are real RS232 ports, not emulated ones...

Why not ask the vendor of the bluetooth module then? I can tell you where the connector is on the board, which you doubtless already know.
As far as the serial connection, I think the PCMCIA would give you a better chance at recognizing the device. I've also tried the USB to serial cables without luck.
Keep in mind that RS232 is an antique mode, typically not hot-swappable unlike USB, so a reboot may be in order whenever hooking up to your plotter.
Whether the card is emulating or not is of no concern, and I don't think you understand the concept, nor does that matter.
Emulation just means it's not native to the existing chipset, there's no actual connector or port on it of the RS232 protocol, so there's going to be translation between the device and your CPU.
If the PCMCIA card isn't much more $ than a port replicator, go with it.
