Pixilation and Other Video Probs 8880

Not sure how to describe this, but I have a strange video problem. I get pink lines and dots around icons and in animated icons. An example is when transfering files the little flying file that you see in the copy dialogue box will have pink snow all around it. Also it will show up around icons in toolbars.

Also in many games including Quake III I get drastic pixilation so that all I see is what looks like a checkerboard.

Any ideas?

checkerboarding in a game is indication of a bad pipeline in the video chip.

I'd concur. You probably should RMA your video (aka laptop).

Thre may be some troubleshooting steps to try, but in the end, I'll bet it is an RMA issue.

Sager has my laptop and it is messed up

I RMAed my 8880 this past Monday because of the problem I mentioned in the first post (checkerboarding video/bad pipeline). I requested a status update and they said that the battery was dead and that they were still working on the video problem. They have had it for 2 days now. What is the longest any of you have had to wait to get your computer returned? I guess there is no hope of delivery by Friday now as they will only ship 2nd day UPS. I am quite unhappy about that as I mailed it next day air so I could get it back Friday. I desperately need it this weekend.

An update

I got my 8880 back yesterday and all is working well.

Interestingly the checkerboarding was a windows issue and they did a fresh install for me and it is gone. I don't know what I did to start it. Any ideas?

Haven't tested the battery yet. But I will tomorrow at work.
