My m15x shipped on the 22nd (3-5 day ground shipping). I have checked to see it's progress, and it shows the 23rd leaving Orlando. Is their anyway I can check the progress of my lappy before they update it?

Thanks!

I've had many packages shipped from AW, so many day's I've followed that FedEx tracker . its right on, but you can always call FedEx for an even more accurate real time tracking update.

congratz on your new rig btw. the m15x just plain owns!

AW uses FedEx home delivery, so it's actually sub-contractors for FedEx.

In my experience, you get the update when it leaves Alienware, then nothing until the day or night before scheduled delivery.

It now says it is in transit at 3:43am this morning from Salt lake City, UT! So if it left at 3;43am this morning could it be to my office by 5pm today??

So I called fedex today to see if my lappy is still going to arrive tomorrow. The Lady at fedex said yes it will be delivered to your office late in the day on the 29th. So I asked if that meant it would be here by 5pm. She answered by telling me that it could be as late as 8pm!! My office closes at 5pm. She then asked if I wanted them to hold it and I could pick it up at their place. i asked where that would be and found out it is almost 50 miles away so I said no thanks.

Now I am not very happy that it has taken a week to gte the lappy shipped when it should have been 3-5 days. Now I am also wondering if they deliver it too late tomorrow will it be delivered on Wednesday late in the day again, or earlier? Will it be coming form the same place 50 miles away or someplace closer? I guess I should have asked her these questions. I will probably call her back in a few minutes.

So now I am thinking that I will drive the 100 miles (there and back) just to ensure I get the lappy!! I wouldn't mind doing that except for two reasons: (1) gas proces and (2) it is supposed to rain and that makes for a less than fun drive. Not really big reasons but also I would be gone from work for 2 hours (long lunch)....sigh, any advice on that?

I should not have taken Fedex ground and I will never do so in the future.....I am pretty much decided that i am going to drive out and get it, just to be sure I am also going to try and reach them today as on the web it says they are open today....

Are you actually going to go back to work after picking up your new AW?
I would be useless at work. All I would be able to think about would be that box sitting next to me.

Why are you getting so wound up?

FedEx isn't a fly by night company, your laptop will arrive as promised.

AW uses FedEx home because they deliver late, and on Saturday for people that work normal hours. If an attempted delivery is missed, they leave a notice that delivery was attempted, and let you know they'll try again. It includes a number to call to make special arrangements. You can also call and have them contact the driver via cell phone in his truck.

I called FedEx back to ask them to hold the shipment (my lappy and stuff) and they now are telling me that they cannot do that. So it will be delivered tomorrow sometime between 8am and 11:59pm.....dang and my office closes at 5pm! I just hope it comes early in the day so I can get over this anxiety, lol!

This is the first time I have had a laptop shipped by ground. Had the money not been so tight I would have gotten 2 day.

No need to get so wound up. I am just so used to getting something, like a laptop within 2 days cause I usually get special delivery. Even when i was in my teens (a loong time ago, lol) I would order games from APBA or Pursue the Pennant (sports game companies)and get them delivered special delivery. Same has been true for most everything I order online. I guess I thought that I would be more patient, hah! I mean it's not like I don't have a computer to use or anything. I am just very excited to get my hands on this baby .

Well actually I did get FedEx to hold onto a package, my daughter's Dell laptop (High School Grad present) after they tried to deliver it once (last year). It was like "no problem" and I picked it up.

Then today I had one rep ask me if I wanted them to hold it for pickup, which I said no thanks. But when I reconsidered and called back a diff rep answered and said, sorry no can do!! Makes you think that they have no clue huh!?

Well it was put on the truck for delivery at 8:48 PST this morning...I am 49 miles away from where the truck started. Any guesses at my ETA?

depends on how many deliveries they have before they reach you...
