Drivers for Acer Aspire 5720-6113

Thread Starter
Hello,

Could someone help me find all the drivers that are needed if I were to reformat my Acer Aspire 5720-6113 notebook.

I looked on their website and they have like 4 of each driver and I have no idea which ones I would need to download.

I am on Windows Vista Home Premium.

Thanks.

Try the Canadian site at http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/for...d=3394#results
Check in your control panel>device manager to make sure you are downloading the right drivers for the right equipment (not all models are exactly the same). Ignore the Vistax64 drivers unless your copy of Vista is 64bit

Thanks! But there's still a problem...

Thank you for giving me a better source, since the US Acer page is so confusing. But I've still got a problem! Once I download the driver I need ( I suppose I have the right one), it installs and all. But at the end it says that I should finish the installation with the "New Hardware Wizard" which doesn't pop up anywhere. I tried looking for it all over and I can't seem to find it.

My problem is currently with the wireless device it has, it's not recognizing it, after having been using it normally. Also, the aiding program that Acer installed onto it, "Empowering Technology", is messed up right now and doesn't let me reach the controls of the wireless device that would normally be through it.

I have a:

Acer Aspire 5720-4516
Windows Vista Home Premium ( I believe)

If there is more need of information for this, I'll gladly put it up!

Thanks in advance for anyone who posts any kind of solution!

if i remember correctly most 5720's come equipped with the atheros card, 5007EG if memory truely serves. if yours does not you can verify what card you have with the FCC tag on the bottom. it will tell you the make, e.g. broadcom, atheros, intel, etc...

here is the atheros driver you need, if that is the case. just run the setup utility. should automatically install. check the device manager after it runs to make sure

Huh! Interesting... When I called customer Service, they told me I had a "Broadcom" and those were the ones I downloaded. How might I find which device my laptop has? You'll have to explain it a little more, I'm slowly getting out of my 'noob' stage....

[Edit: Ah! I found what you said! Just checked under the laptop and there it was.. I feel stupid now. lol

Thanks I'll check right away and see if this works! Be posting up my findings soon enough!]

Well... I bring bad news.

It seems it's doing the same thing as when I was trying to install the 'broadcom' driver. Says that I need to wait until the "Found New Hardware wizard" pops up to complete installation. But this time it did something different.

It says that I don't have the card plugged in or inserted, which is weird since the sticker underneath says that' it's an Atheros card...

Truly, now I'm confused.

check the device manager, see what is says under network adapters. if no atheros card is listed it could be a bad card, or not seated correctly.
