Satellite P30 memory Upgrade

I know this might be somewhere but a search could not find it. So here is the question:

I currently have two 512s of memory in my Satellite P30. I ordered two 1 gig Samsung DDR PC2700 modules (same as the ones in my computer now ). I installed the two 1 gig modules and Windows XP keeps shutting down. So I know what your thinking. Here are the troubleshooting actions taken:

1. I installed just one 1 gig module at a time to see if there was a bad one. Both worked fine independently.

2. Rechecked them together again. No go.

3. Installed one 1 gig module and one 512 module. Works fine.

4. BIOS is updated. It is PhoenixBIOS V1.3 the current version.

5. Went into BIOS setup and it shows that the memory, no matter what configuration is recognized as the correct amount. There is nothing in the menu about "shadowing" to turn off as recommended by the big bad blue screen when Windows goes running (shuts down).

6. The documentation states that this machine will support 2 gigs of memory.

7. The 512s are DDR PC2700 with 4 block on each side (total of 8). The 1 gigs are DDRT PC2700 with 8 blocks on each side (total of 16). The support center of the company I bought them from say the density is the same and the laptop specifications say that the machine is capable of mixing the densities anyway, so I don't think this is the problem.

Bottom line is both modules are working they just won't work together. The modules are the same type and manufacturer as the current memory.

Does anyone have any idea why this memory upgrade won't work as sister 1 gig modules or why the computer won't recognize 2 gigs but will recognize 1.5 gigs? This has got me stumped.

HELP OH GREAT ONES OUT THERE!!!

nothing to do with your model, but summing up very good why sometimes max ram does not work, even if the specs say you can

cheers ...
