Change workgroup name error need help fast

I have a Gateway P-6860FX with Vista Home Premium SP1 and when I try to change the workgroup name it gives me an error about my computer name. I have attached a screenshot of the error. Never seen this before and I cannot change the computer name or workgroup name, really annoying. It was working great before I did a clean install of Vista.

and you tried already under either safemode or with admin privileges? and the name of the workgroup was not being tried to setup as the same as the computer's name?

I have tried in safemode. When I boot the coputer it automatically logs me in as the administrator, no option to log in as administrator and my user name says administrator. I cant figure this out, it is the first time I have seen this error.

I would take a peek at the secondUserId/SignOn service, and making sure that it is running. Other than that, i would consider a repair
