Updating ATI drivers on Sony Laptop

Thread Starter
I just purchased a VGN-FW139E; it's running Vista and has a Radeon HD3400 video card in it. It has an old video driver in it, and I'm trying to update it to the lastest ATI video card driver.

I downloaded the latest cataylst for Vista, and no matter what I do, it will not update the video driver. It will install Catalyst, but it will not update. It doesn't ask to me restart my computer after installation, or anything.

Does Sony reject the ability to update drivers if they are not "official" Sony drivers? Do I have to do something special to update my drivers in Vista, perhaps? I am new to Vista, coming from primarily using OS X. Any help will be appreciated!!

i recommend you leave the sony updater on (and automatic). After the registration, sony will tell you if they are new updates pertaining to your model. Same thing with vista. Sometimes it will take up to a month, before the update list is being completed.

Dont force it, this is where, most of the times, everything goes wrong on new machines. Just backup the system, create restore cd/dvds during this time. Some cleanup (removing unneeded startup processes) would help

cheers ...

Go to ATI\HD3400-VAIO\8-7_vista32_dd_65998\Packages\Drivers\Display\LH_INF seledt your model and install driver original!
