Cannot install xp on xps630

Im hoping someone can shed some light here for me as i have exhausted all my ideas.
In the UK i could only buy the xps 630 with Vista, I want to install XP but everytime i get almost finished i suffer with BSOD. I have pressed F6 to install the raid drivers and it will see my hard drives and copy the files across. I have put in my time zone and such and just before it finishes installing i get a bsod which restarts the pc and its just looping round that. any ideas?

It might have something to do with the Dell restore partition on the OS hard drive. If you don't mind wiping out the partition, use Acronis or Norton to recreate your partitions, and try to install XP from there.

Edit: Howdy Doughy!

Not sure if it related but I tried the XP Raid drivers for my M6300 and got the same BSOD.

Looking at the Raid drivers I found that they were signed for Vista not for XP.

I might suggest going to Intels web site and see if they have a XP Raid driver listed for the Motherboard. (assumming its a Intel Mobo)

Doughy: Were you able to install xp on your 630? Just wondering because I just ordered the 630 with vista premium and I'm thinking of switching to xp if vista becomes a problem. Thanks.

Yes i did mate, i integrated the correct drivers this time, its so confusing which ones to integrate. I have them on my web space here

Thanks for the info. Just a clarification: When you say integrate, did you mean download the drivers that are listed on your web space? Was your problem related to a raid setup? Have you thought of doing a dual boot?

BTW, nice specs. I ordered the e8500 with the dual 9800gt. The only negative thing about this system is that Dell crippled the 650i.

Thanks.

When i mean integrate i mean integrate them into a wondows setup cd so the drivers are already there when you want to install. The problem is if you dont you will get blue screens of death. I am dual booting with Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit which i got from dell free.
Yes dell "dellified" the 650 chipset but all in all its a damn good pc and its fast so i have no troubles with it.
