Unable to boot XP Professional from either CD or floppy

My notebook model number : PCG-FR825P . Initially I got a error "Unmountable_Boot_volume" while booting my notebook. So I was trying to boot from CD to get through the recovery console. Initially couple of time I was able to boot from CD. and tried chkdsk /r. after that, I tried to boot & it was detecting the cd-rom (and bootable floppy as well) But not booting from the CD or Floppy. I had checked the boot order and that seems to be alright.

I don't know how to proceed. Pls. pls. help me.

. did your bios recognise the presence of a hard drive?
. might want to take the drive out and check it via an external housing

Yes. BIOS recognise the hard drive and also it boots XP from hard disk. after the XP screen i get blue screen with above mentioned error and its keep on rebooting(never ending process).

I would personally try a new drive. Many times, hard drives can pass the chkdisk, but will not pass at boot time
