Dell 6000 BIOS password

Thread Starter
I bought a Dell 6000 base off of E-Bay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=011)

However, it has a BIOS password. He send me the stuff from www.dellpassword.com however it doesn't have stuff for the Dell 6000i, only the 6000d. Plus, it includes unsoldering a leg of the the chip, which is beyond my skills.

Did I basically buy myself a brick? He is trying to get the original owners name so ownership can be transferred, but it seems to be it's a long trail back.

Thanks,
Douglas

This man is a SAVIOR! He got my system back up and running and was EXTREMELY helpful with my problem, more so then all the other Dell reps I've talked to via on-line chat or by phone COMBINED!

Thanks so much,
Douglas

Omnibook 6000 is not a Dell that I've ever heard of. But then again I don't know what name Dell sells their systems under outside of the US.

Dell Inspirion 6000 BIOS Password

Hello,
I have this laptop that I inherited from a death in the family and it has a BIOS password set and I was wondering how to reset it. I have contacted Dell and had the ownership info transferred but it seems they are NOT able to help, the Tech says he cannot help,i understand its out of warranty and was going to pay for the tech call but he could not help me.

Below is what I get when the laptop is powered on:

This computer system #3PLZG81-595B is
protected by a password authentication system. you
cannot access the data on this computer without
the correct password
Please type in the system or administrator
password and press <enter>

Thanks again for the help
