Is tere a way to get a Dell without the crapware?

Is there any way to have Dell send you a laptop without all the unwanted and unneeded crap that typically comes on them?

i saw an option on the Dell Studio laptops, where it says dont install any programs or something

and you can uncheck to get free ISP programs or whatever too

so in an all around general way, yeah you can

Unless there is an option then, obviously, no you're stuck with the crapware from the factory. Quickest solution to get rid of that is to just reinstall Vista from a retail disc, but, not everyone has one of those handy or wants to go through the process of reinstalling drivers (which isn't difficult on Vista since OEMs provide them). I believe you can download a disc from the microsoft ftp server legally since you need a valid key to actually use it....that's how I got my x64 disc....downloaded an iso from microsoft and used the key i bought.

Dell sends a Windows disc to be able to format and reinstall

Dell Studio edition laptops come with only the basic software installed, and no bloatware.

there was a program called dell de-crapifier, if memory serves me . google it. but best is fresh re-install.

You could buy the Dell and then buy a Vista disk. It'll cost a bit more that way because the separate Vista disk isn't subsidized by those vendors that supply that 'CrapWare'...And then you can sepately buy the programs you will want, such as CD/DVD burning software and DVD playing software...Or, just uninstall what you don't want and clean up the registry.

Oh yeah, I was thinking of this: http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showthread.php?t=215425

But apparently Microsoft realized their mistake already. Good thing I got my x64 disc early
