mouse for 9100

Thread Starter
As I sit patiently for my 9100, I'm trying to decide on what type of mouse I should get (wire v. wireless). Any opinions/recommendations?

Thanks,
Rob

Wireless and laptop sized is what I would normally say to an i8600 user, or most others for that matter.... but seeing as you are already going to be lugging around that lead-weight you may as well go for one of the best, and larger mice, such as the Logitech MX700 wireless or Logitech MX900 bluetooth (if you ordered with a bluetooth card). They are both full size and a couple of the best mice on the market.

I ordered my i9100, and I am trying to decide too. I have a MX310 on my desktop, and love it. I use it on a cheap crappy fake woodgrain desk, no mousepad, and I have no probs at all. And the price is right, for $25 or so, I dont think it can be beat. I think im gettin another MX310.

yeah it does, the red is supposed to be "limited edition" whatever that means

but i might be building a new desktop, if so, i will get the blue one for my desktop

i use the MS Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 on my desktop. Its a way nice mouse, the only gripe i have is that the smooth scrolling "technology" kinda sux in games for switching weapons.

I have had it for 4 months with the original batts, no issues at all with it yet. The tilt thing seems kinda gay at first, but i find myself always trying to use it at school now
LOL.

I just got a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 4.0 Optical mouse with Tilt wheel. I got a wired one instead of wireless bcoz of concern due to batteries. The MS wireless mouse I use at work uses up 2 batteries every 3 weeks. Thats too much. Another reason being that Wired mouse is difficult to get lost. I cant tell you how many times I have scrambled to find the handset when the phone rings.

my $0.02

I agree with our ever-wise moderator. Go with the mx510. I use mine on all types of surfaces (woodgrain tables, glass tables, granite countertops, and even carpet) and I haven't had a single tracking issue yet. Its also extremely comfortable and well placed buttons.

I got the MX500 instead of MX510 simply because I couldn't get it here in Canada.. anyway it works great.. Maybe when I get better playin UT2004 I'll get the 510
BTW.. I was hesitant on getting a "wirelesS" because it does not necessarily mean that you don't have to carry wires.. you still have to take the charger with you (if you travel)..
Logitech makes very good mice.

Curious.... just went to Logitech's site to look up this MX 510 everyone keeps talking about, but they don't seem to have one....

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/do...A/EN,CRID=1792

Unless I'm blind, it's not there....

Never mind - it's not on the support page for some reason, but it is here:

Looks like a sweet unit. Not sure it's worth ditching my MX 500 and MX 700 for, but if I was getting a new mouse that would be a top choice...

Behold the power of the mx510:

Image Processing: 5.8 megapixels/sec
Resolution: 800 dpi
Acceleration: 15g
Speed: 40 inches/sec

Compared to mx500/700/900:

Image Processing: 4.7 megapixels/sec
Resolution: 800 dpi
Acceleration: 10g
Speed: 40 inches/sec

I have a ball mouse very similar to the MX300, and I love it, great for games, and very comfortable. Not to big, not to small. I can be on the computer for hours and I never feel fatigue.

I'd go with whatever fits your hand best.

also note with the MX900 using your internal Bluetooth card will only leave you with 400 dpi instead of 800 I can vouge for this personally since I use it however using the POWEREX batteries I get 2 days of use before i have to charge it again

Don“t most wireless mouses both ordinary and bluetooth operate at the same band as wireless lan and would interfere and reduce range/performance on the lan?

Heard that it was so and that some microwaves and wirelessphones did the same.

Wireless phones can, but wireless mice and blue tooth don't interfere with 802.11 b. I have a wireless mouse (MX 700) and 802.11b running together - no problems.

Anyone know of a good place I can get a MX5100 Blue? Everywhere I look is sold out and CDW has such poor reviews from pricegrabbers that I don't feel comfrotable buying from there.
