I have been searching hpshopping.com unsuccessfully for the HP7000 series. Can you or anyone point me to it. I went to Best Buy but they didn't have anything with this numbered series.
You can't be referring to the zd7000 can you?? With the 17" screen weighing about 10 pounds??? A search for "hp7000" on these forums got 1 hit, and it was for the zd7000 series.
Thanks,

I'm partial to an Athlon 64 myself, though, and am waiting on Hypersonic's AX7 for now.

Got It!

Well, patience IS a virtue!

I went to the best buy near my home today and asked AGAIN if the M6809 was in. NO. Was the answer. Not being one to give up, I waited in the store for awhile and when I saw another sales rep, I asked him. He said....I dont know. Lets look. We looked in the computer.....Nothing. He said, hold on, I'll look "up top" (No idea what that meant til the ladder thing came rolling by me. I look up, and see a whole $hit load of laptops in boxes behind these cages! And SURE ENOUGH there was the M6809!!! 4 of em'!!!

So he says: Did you want one today? AH.....HELL YEAH!

So I got it, I bought the 3 year BB warr. (which we'll discuss later) and when we are checking out, things get even better. The usuall credit card reciept is printing out and he says: Damm! I say....what!

He says: Not only are you getting the $150 Emachines rebate that I told you about, but you're getting a $100 Best Buy rebate! I had him check to make sure. (didnt want to waste my time filling the sucker out if it wasnt valid.) Sure enough....its valid! $250 bucks in rebates! Not bad!

Hyestar!

Yes, I was talking about the eMachine's extended warranty, I would NEVER buy any warranty from Best Buy on any item, ever. While I was there tonight a woman bought one of the cheaper eMachines notebooks, and the Best Buy salesperson "helping her" literally shoved a 3 year warranty down her throat. She never knew what hit her. Him saying to her that "it would pay for itself in batteries alone" almost made me heave.
Can you explain why the BB Warranty is no good (I already have it, so too late I guess.) But Ill be dammed if Im gonna spend $1700 and only walk away with a 1 year warr. (also, Its almost as iF I got it for free because of the rebates!)

I read the fine print, asked a boat load of questions and am for all practical purposes a verteran in the computer world. I feel that the BB warr. is a valid one and am glad I got it.

Nothing wrong with their warranty that I know of, I simply don't like them pressuring customers into one. Like I said, the woman last night I saw was literally "force-fed" a $250 warranty on a $900 machine. Too much money for too little. I personally would take the eMachines 2 year for $109 or whatever it is. No, it won't cover the batteries, but big deal. You can always get a battery on EBAY cheap.
And yes, you certainly can return the Best Buy warranty for a refund within the 14 day return period...ABSOLUTELY, and without question. If you are happy with Best Buy servicing your laptop, then keep it and be happy.

Thanks. I didnt know Emachines even offered an extended warr.!

The only reason I'll prob. keep the best buy warr. is, it includes the screen. (I have now idea yet if the emachines warr. includes seperate screen coverage. (I have yet to read it.)

Can someone tell me either way if:

1. The emachines extended warr is a better deal.
2. Best Buy is a competent repair facility (or do they send the machine out for repair.) when it comes time to get the laptop fixed for any reason.

Thanks,

hyestar.

My pleasure. Happy to take "candy out of the mouth" of Best Buy.
I like Best Buy, I shop there, but I want their extended warranties (and their sales staff that push them on shoppers) to rot in hell. I usually stop them in mid-sentence (when they start talking about ESP) and say NOT INTERESTED, SORRY!!
