Possible fix for Sigmatel sound crackle in Vista (M1710)

I found that as soon as I installed quickset the crackle started, exit Quickset and it stops. I wonder if this works in XP? It's not like Quickset is that useful; I can set the LED's via other methods.
I'm using a M1710 w/ T7600 and 7950GTX in dual-boot XP/Vista.

Did you install the latest drivers for sigmatel and the latest version of quickset ?
I remember having this problem a year or so ago with vista but today i am running the same config as yours with quickset and no crackling...

Install the sigmatel Vista drivers the Dell put up for the M6300 Precision Notebook. These were the first ones Dell posted that worked 100% correctly with the 1705 and M90. By now Dell may have put the drivers under other computers.
