Dell Inspiron 1525 celeron cpu swap

I have a dell inspiron 1525 with the celeron 540 cpu. Is it possible to swap it with a core 2 duo (ex. T5450) or is it hardwired into the motherboard. Can the motherboard even support it?

We just got in a 1525 with a 2.4ghz C2D in it at work, which I swapped into my XPS m1530, and put the t7200 from mine in the 1525, so I'd say you should be good to go. Just check the service manual on dells site for disassembly instructions (it's pretty easy, open the bottom door, unscrew I think 5 screws, and you'll have access to the proc, unlock it, put the new one in, lock it down and put the heatsink & cover back on and you're done. I'd just make sure to flash it first with the latest firmware in case there are processor compatibility improvements..
