Hi, I recently purchased an alienware m15x and I've been having issues with the camera. The program that came with it, Cyberlink YouCam, doesn't recognize a camera and other programs don't either. I have hit function+f9 to turn on/off the camera but with no results. I was wondering if there are other things I could try out to fix this. I am basically a computer noob, and I heard something about drivers but I am unsure of what that means too. Thanks in advance for any advice =)

Please visit http://support.alienware.com and sign-in to your MyHive account. If you haven't already, you may create your account at this page. When signed into your MyHive, please click on the SI (Invoice) number that has your m15x.
From there, please choose the top-most link which should be "Area-51 M15X". From there, a menu will drop down and you should be able to download the CyberLink YouCam 1.0.0.1120 driver.
Let us know if this helps, thanks!

b1gp3n154u,
Basically drivers allow your software (the Windows operating system in your case) to interface/connect/communicate with your hardware (the camera in your case). Drivers are installed in windows to help it "see" that hardware that you have connected. Some things don't require drivers, or a generic driver is built in to windows, but you'll find some hardware items that require seperate drivers to be installed. Companies release driver updates, which is just what it sounds like. They will re-write the files for windows to increase compatibility or usability. As AW-James suggested, logging onto your "My Hive" account gives you aliewnare's site customized to your computer, complete with all the drivers you need.
