Replacing the video card in my M90

Hi guys,

I currently have a Precision M90 running on a FX 1500M. The video card is artifacting and seems to be dying, so I ordered a refurb 2500M from eBay. I'm looking for a set of instructions, or a guideline to follow for installing and setting up the new video card. If anyone can provide me with a procedure on doing this I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Dell has made it a bit more tricky since they redesigned their site. But here is the service manual for the M90:

And after you get everything working hardware wise you will probably want to find some "new" drivers for your card. Other than overclocking (only if you desire), that is all.

Ok it looks like I've run into a problem. Once I replace the card and boot up my PC, I get a black screen with no display at all. The system works fine and turns on, but no screen appears at all. Am I missing something?

have you tried an external monitor ?

If should just drop in and work. Check your video cable again make sure it is seated properly, and the pins are not damaged.

Worse case your new card is bricked, act quickly and make sure your still withuin the Warranty or DOA policy period.

ih yeah, if you drop your old card back in and your screen lights up, is a good indication the new card is toast.

But double check the new card install.
