New Laptop

Hi,

I am looking to buy a new laptop for the coming school year and was just wondering about what my best options would be. I have a significant amount of money put away for this. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I won't spare any expense, but I am willing to spend.

I use MS Office for school work, Excel, Powerpoint, Word. But the majority of my time is used for music and video. Not altering or modifying it but heavy downloading and watching movies and tv shows online and on DVD. Also I do play PC games fairly consistently. So a large screen is a must, 17' or more. Memory is also very important and external hard drives have never worked out well for me in the past. So a hard drive that can store a lot of music, videos, and photos is also needed and I have heard of the Solid State Drives, but is that extra speed worth the lack of storage space? Speed accessing files is also important but the 7200RPM hard drives eem to heat up very quickly and lead to overheating problems.

I would like to get this laptop fairly soon for the new school year. And am wondering if I should wait for an amazing new laptop coming out or just go with one now. O/S not a huge deal but Windows would be prefered unless the new MacBook Pro is a huge improvement above the rest.

So anyone who could recommend some good laptops for what I have outlined that would be fantastic.. Even future laptops that are going to be released soon that you know of would be helpful.

Thanks.
