beside of that i like this forum, as most people are friendly and usually you will get a solution for your requests quickly. also a lot of long years dell users here.

only thing is, that activity here seems to get less. but this won't change if everyone changes to another forum.
Yeah I really wish it would be back like in the old times, but I have a feeling the whole community rep idea sorta killed the forum in that all their job is, is to be traffic cops. The problem also is that tons of great members wanted the positions of course and only a few were chosen.

Hopefully this winter with less fun stuff to do away from the forums, more people will return.

beside of that i had a look at notebookreviews, but i just couldn't find any threads on my laptop or graphics card, so it's a little pointless for me..

Agreed. We are working on a brand new design. It's gonna rock.

while it may have been that way in the beginning when you were one, the community reps have a better niche now in my opinion. We've made some definite improvements in their roles and functions since then. My personal opinion of why the forum's been slowing down is style problems- many folks just don't like the new style and they won't post here because it's hard for them to work with. However,

Unfortunately, it's taken a long time to get to it because we've only got one full-time coder and he's been swamped with other stuff. However, we'll hopefully be able to start implementation of the better style within the next month or two.

edit: and for what it's worth, I'm also a member at Notebook Review, although I'm on here much more.

To be honest you should probably advertise their role because to be honest I don't think anybody on the forum knows what their real purpose is *except maybe sit around in OT*. I mean no offense, but I just don't think people really understand what their REAL role is.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to the new style and credit system. Will both of them be implemented simultaneously or shall it be one at a time?
Last I heard, the credit system is waiting on the developers of vB commerce to finalize their system, so that's not something we can control or predict. We'll finish it up on our side when we get the go-ahead.

I'll admit Ive been trying to enjoy my summer for as long as it lasts. So my visits have been less often.

But once school starts up again, my appearance will return...hopefully

i would move to NBR, but ur link doesn't work!
I agree NBR has much better discussions, especially about the Studio line. I used to love this forum when I first got the i9300 but no one here talks about the Studio.

Hopefully with a newer, easier to read format more people will enjoy both NBF and NBR.

i'm with you moman. better discussions. I left this place because of all the AW fanboys running anyone off who had a disagreement or happened to have a bad experience with AW. Well, NBR was a lot nicer. But lately (and sometimes i think its the same community reps from here... but that's a different story) the mods from AW section at NBR have been BANNING people for bitching about the shoddy craftmanship of the m15x and the broken plastic hinge thing. and having a friend who was one affected (and by the way posted in neither place just threatened holy hell after the first failed repair and got his money back... with of course paying that BS restocking fee)... i find it sort of unfair to ban and threaten people who complain after spending 4k on a laptop for crap service.

So now, i dont really go much to either. heck, i go here maybe once a month and i used to LOVE this place. it was a must-stop during work while waiting for things to happen on my servers and stuff. Oh well. Funny that i see this thread as i just decided to swing by tonight.

I'm rather late to the discussion, however after reading this post I feel the need to reply. Your viewpoint on Community Reps offends me. I do not go around to other forums trying to get people banned, and for that matter I don't even do that here. To generalize Community Reps in this manner does a great disservice to us. We are here to assist others and not out to "gang up" on certain people who don't share our ideology. Furthermore, it wasn't just Dell forum members that were banned- AW lost almost ALL of their core members and the AW forum is now a shell of what it used to be. And to expound on another point the entire NBF community lost a LOT of it's members around the same time as the whole "Dell buys AW" mess, so it wasn't just isolated to that incident.

H3ll, I want NBF to go back to it's former self probably more than anybody. It was a lot of fun back then and we seemed to get along. It's sad that certain issues drive people away, but those of us that are still here need to pick up the slack left from that gap and try to return it to it's former self. We are all responsible for what happens here...

And to conclude, I would also like to add that I have a couple of DELL systems that I am rather happy with, besides my AW m5500.

That's been said in the past about the current "styles," Duke; I think you're mistaken, but hope I'm wrong. As a matter of fact, you already know my personal opinion (which I won't post out of respect I once had for the people I wrote about in my note to you). I don't believe I'm alone in holding that view, but it appears no one else cares to share it with you - I just can't imagine why! LOL

To be honest, I think you're the only one who's brought that particular problem to my attention and when I think about even more, I feel things have gotten better over time regarding that issue.

Perhaps you're right, but the numbers of current posters certainly don't reflect that idea (Edit: Currently 9/1/08, at 6:13am, here 16 posters, there 215. Normally, lately, about 5:1 ratio or thereabouts - seriously, take a look). Good luck with the new changes.

Edit: Forgot to mention, Duke, (and give credit where due) that I'm surprised that this thread is still alive. Probably, in the not too distant past, it would have been locked. IMO, a thread like this at the other site would not only have been locked, it would have immediately been deleted.

I never knew we had comunnity-reps before this thread, whatever their function may be, so I am neutral about that.

In my opinion the forum theme is more in the way of reading here, than supporting it, but that also is no reason to leave this forum.

What bothers me more is the lack of topics about the 17' inspiron line. The inspirons are actually better covered in the other forum (which i didn't knew before this thread. )

Point and case.
