Sager NP2096 and oblivion?

How well will a Sager NP2069 run oblivion?

I am in no means looking for "All max settings with super graphic overhaul mods and 90 fps consistantly" I am looking for acceptable settings that will render a pleasurable experience. For me that is medium settings or slightly above, and a consistant framerate of 30 fps or so.

Basically, on par with the console versions, at least.

I was reccomended to this notebook when i asked for a smaller lappy that could run oblivion adequately. I'm going to be hauling this thing around a uni campus, so i don't want any 11 lb laptops.

Thanks in advance!

This 9600M GT should fair well with it. What CPU are you getting?

I don't know, honestly. I'm not that computer savvy in all seriousness. Is that one of the bubble in selects on that page i linked to? If so, which do you reccomend?

Thanks for the reply.

Hm...that upgrade really is expensive. How nessesary is it exactly?

Also, is there any way to get the xbox 360 controller to work well with the pc? I've been searching around and alot of people say that half the buttons don't work.

The P8600 would also be a good CPU.

I really appreciate you answerering all of my questions. I'm very uneducated in computer stuff, it's really nice to have someone who knows what they're talking about to guide you in the right direction.

So the P8600, $55 more dollars is not too bad. So the standard P8400 is not reccomended? Even for medium settings and 30fps?
it wouldn't be a bad CPU, but for $55, it's more of a question why not upgrade?

Hmm, yes i do see your point.

Alright, thanks. So with the provided GPU and the P8600 CPU i should be all set.

Thanks, I'll be sure to come back here with any questions I have in the future.

Alright guys, I plan on buying the Sager tonight, I'm on the xotic page and everything.

I still have some more questions.

Two RAM options are availible, both are 2gigs, but one says "Dual Channel memory" (2 sodimms) and one just says "memory" (1 sodimm) which of these is prefered?

Is a 1280X800 screen viable or should i upgrade to a 1680X1050? The screen is 15.4 inches btw.

Are any programs required to run OB not included in a "Windows XP Homes sp2...thing" for the operating system? For example, doesn't OB use windows media player for sound?

Thanks guys, here are the options I'm talking about in case i said something wrong:

Also, a wireless internet connection is availible campus wide. Is there anything i need for my lappy to be able to connect to it? Accessories, or anything? Or does it just search for the signal on it's own?
the dual channel. 2 dimms

i aways go with the higher res

What is OB?

as long as it comes with a wireless card you'll be able to connect to it

one thing i would suggest, is the 3 year warranty...

always get a 3 year warranty with ANY notebook
post #16 of 21

Okay. Can i extend a warranty somehow? Because i did already place the order.

Also, on another forum one of the guys said that the higher resolution will tax the system more. Is this the resolution of the screen that matters, or can i set the resolution low on the PC and avoid the extra tax on resources?

What I'm asking i guess is, does he mean the physical pixel dimensions of the screen is what taxes the system, or is it the resolution setting i have on the pc?
You should be able to call and fix the warranty.

As for the resolution, you're not going to see much difference. All of the pixels in your screen will still be lit no matter what resolution you're notebook is running at.

Alright I'll call them up tomorrow, it's a bit late now.

So, with the high resolution screen, i'll still be ok as far as a game quality? I realize it gives you a better picture but I'm just a bit worried about how it will effect fps and stuff like that.
Yes you will get lower FPS with the higher res, but with hat video card you should be fine.
And yes, you can reduce the resolution in-game to improve performance.
