wireless adapter not working

Thread Starter
I got a new P173X-FX gateway notebook recently and since the Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit conflicted with some of my software, I used the manufacturer's disk to do a clean install of the 32 bit Vista Ultimate.

However, when I try to use the wireless built-in RealTek adapter afterwards, it won't work. It keeps telling me that no network can be found.

When I use a cable, it works. I also went to the gateway support website and got the realtek and motherboard chipset drivers (as a gateway rep on the phone told me to), but it still won't work.

In the Device Manager screen, under the Network Adapters, the RealTek one is working correctly (or so it says).

But there is another Other Devices thing there, called Network Controller. It has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. When I try to update the drivers for that, Windows tells me that no updates can be found.

Can anyone tell me why the built-in RealTek adapter won't work? Thanks in advance.

have you tried un.installing the network controller entry? or disable it?

cheers ...
