It has a 8400m GS in it. I heard there are both DDR2 and DDR3 versions of this card, is that true? Also, I read that you could unlock the 8400m GS to a 8600m GS in order to get a 128-bit bus. Anyone tried that? Thanks.

Yes there is DDR2 and DDR3 versions of 8400M GS.....dell uses DDR3 with all their 8400m GS whether its the Vostro 1310/1400 or XPS M1330.

Only the Dell precision M4300/2300 which use a quadro based on the 8400 use DDR2 that I know of in the dell line.

Never heard of anybody unlocking a 8400M GS to use 128 bit membus, although the are the same basic chip [G86] I'd be surprised if nvidia hasn't ensured by hardware modification that its not possible....just like they have with the shader pipes on the all the 8 series.

How are you finding your new Vostro 1400?
