| Apple's MacBook Air will soon have to face some new, tougher competition as Lenovo is preparing the introduction of the successor of the ThinkPad X300. Named simply ThinkPad X301, the new laptop is just one-inch thin and weights just under 3 pounds just like its predecessor but it comes with updated hardware specs. Equipped with a 13.3-inch LED backlit LCD, the X301 makes use of either a Core 2 Duo ULV 1.2 GHz U9300 or a 1.4 GHz U9400 CPU, can hold up to 2GB of DDR3 memory and be loaded with a 64 or 128 GB SSD. The new laptop also features DisplayPort connectivity, a thin DVD writer and WiFi with a WiMAX-ready model being planned for a release later this year. Starting off at $2600, the ThinkPad X301 will start selling on August 26. On the left, the X301's older, twin brother, the X300 ![]() |
