CRC error message of doom!

okay so no matter what copy of tome raider anniversary I buy I cant install it,
i get the CRC error message
i have the latest drivers for everything
no viruses or spy ware
my avg was turned of during the install but still no luck

I bought the game brand new 5 minutes ago and it doesn't work

its so annoying
but no one knows how to fix the problem.....

any help please and thanks
ive tried copying all the files from the disk to my computer no luck
i tried clicking on the actual .exe file with no luck.....

It's probably something to do with your CD/DVD drive. Usually I encounter an error like that if either something with the drive interface (try moving it to a different port on the board? Change the cable out?) or the drive itself is going to hell.

im not sure its a new drive and its external but this never worked on my internal drive either

If it doesn't work on either an external drive OR an internal drive, then it's probably something on the software side, be it something gone awry within the OS itself, or simply a screwed up driver.

Try reinstalling your chipset drivers, which will in turn reinstall the drivers for USB and the IDE interface. See if that does anything for you.
