My friend asked me if I could help him figure out what is wrong with his tablet notebook. The images that appear on the screen are boxy and messed up as you can see in the pics. He does not know what happened or what caused it.
Could anyone give me any advice as to what could be wrong?
btw, dont mind that line across the pic.

It looks similar to what my screen looks like when the video card/driver crashes...the first thing to try would be reinstalling the video driver...unless you get distortions when its in the bios.

. hook it up to an external monitor,
. if it is ok, then time for a new lcd
. if the same, try updating gpu driver
. if it still fails, gpu is going bad

cheers ...

There is an issue with the motherboard, specifically the video memory. It can be repaired, I have done it personally for my friend's tc1000. Same exact issue.

It has nothing to do with software...

I am new to this site. I had got some information on this above topic. I had recently purchased an HP/Compaq TC1100 Tablet PC. The BIOS for this obviously has a whitelist, protecting it commencing from booting if a wireless card with the intention of not on the whitelist is installed. The earliest BIOS version or description was F.03, and the most recent is F.0F, and, regrettably, the whitelist characteristic is even in the innovative F.03 BIOS. For more information you can go here.
